Opening of the Sackler Centre for Consciousness Science
This is an announcement for the opening event of the Sackler Centre for Consciousness Science on Sussex University campus. The event will be held in the Chowen Lecture Theatre, Brighton and Sussex Medical School, University of Sussex on 21 April 2010.
Symposium – 15:00-17:30
Keynote lecture – 18:30-19:30
The new Sackler Centre for Consciousness Science (SCCS) will be formally opened on Wednesday 21 April. The SCCS is a joint venture between the
Schools of Informatics and Psychology at the University of Sussex, and the Brighton and Sussex Medical School. Its remit is to unravel the complex neural networks underpinning conscious experience, in health and in disease, and its foundation has been made possible by a generous donation from the Dr. Mortimer and Theresa Sackler Foundation.
You are invited to attend a symposium and keynote lecture marking the opening. There will be four talks during the afternoon from key SCCS faculty (Anil Seth, Hugo Critchley, Nick Medford, and Zoltan Dienes), followed by the lecture from Professor Chris Frith (Wellcome Trust Centre for Neuroimaging). Refreshments will be served either side of the keynote presentation.
If you wish to attend the evening keynote, it is ESSENTIAL that you book your place by visiting www.sussex.ac.uk/bookalecture or emailing email@example.com. No RSVP is needed if you only intend to come to the afternoon talks. Both events are free of charge and will be held in the Chowen Lecture Theatre in the Medical School (marked 47 on the map at www.sussex.ac.uk/aboutus/findus/documents/campusmap.pdf).
For more information about the SCCS and abstracts for all the talks, see www.sussex.ac.uk/sackler.
